HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
I hope your all fat and happy today and have the TV on whichever NFL game suits your fancy. Enjoy this day of family and food, its is well deserved. My favorite Thanksgiving food is a compilation of a few delicious staples; a solid spoonful of sticky stuffing, followed by a hearty helping of sweet potatoes (i can smell them right now), and then a glistening blob of canned cranberry sauce. Without these the meal is worthless.
So, today i am not going to be eating the melody of flavor and happiness that i just described. I have had the opportunity to scarf down a bundle of banana's from the market and hope to make it home in time to eat leftovers from last night for lunch...rice and black beans with a topping of chili sauce i found on a dusty shelf the last time i went to Apia. My current method for picking out chili sauce is pretty through, if its label is in Koren/Chinese/Japanese im buying it and its going to be good.
Dont feel to bad for me though because all the PC got together last weekend and had a HUGE feast. Im talking 6 turkeys and 20 homemade locally grown pumpkin pies (real nice w/ ice cream) courtesy of the Chargeis (sorry i cant spell french words) wife. Bless her soul. It was quite the spread and the quality of food was not a disappointment. Im telling you, maybe its just this post, but PC Samoa volunteers know how to cook. I think i strained my rotator cuff shoveling the mound off of my plate and i had a few fork marks on my face from 'just misses', it was a deliciously rough day!
My contribution: Cole Slaw - it should be called 'THE SLAW'
Recipe: market bought cabbage and carrots, mayo, old vinegar from the PC community fridge, random spices from on top of the PC community fridge - next to the moldy blob.
Make if you care about your palate at all.
Id make it for you because i care about all of you and you palates.
I love you as well.
Book suggestion: My Uncle Oswald - Roald Dahl. Genius.
